Cookie statement

The NanoCentre website uses cookies. Cookies are information files that can be automatically stored on or read from the visitor’s device (such as PC, tablet or smartphone) when visiting a website. This is done via the web browser on the device. These cookies process at least the IP address, the Cookie ID and technical information about the device used. This means that TNO will use your personal data when you visit the website.

First party cookies

TNO uses first party and third party cookies. First party cookies are, for example, functional cookies that the website installs and approaches. These cookies are necessary for the website to function and do not store any personal or traceable data. Third party cookies are, for example, cookies from advertisers and / or the social media companies. We only use third party cookies to enable the sharing of webpages via social media.

TNO uses cookies to:

  • enable functionalities of the website (technical or functional cookies);
  • to analyse the use of the website and to improve the website on that basis (analytical cookies).

Functional cookies

The placing of technical or functional cookies is necessary for the website to work properly.

Analytical cookies

Analytical cookies process, in addition to the aforementioned data, also the length of time spent on a particular web page and the order in which the various web pages are visited.

Social media

The website includes buttons to share the pages on social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. These buttons work by means of pieces of code that come from Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn themselves. This code is used to place third party cookies. You can use the cookie pop-up to indicate whether or not you accept these cookies.

If you accept these cookies, it also means that you will automatically enter the social media platform environment. TNO is not responsible for the processing of any personal data via these platforms. For the cookies placed by the social media platforms and the data they collect with them, please refer to the privacy statement of Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn (which may change regularly).

The information is transferred to and stored by Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and LinkedIn on servers in the United States. LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and Google + adhere to the Privacy Shield principles and are affiliated with the Privacy Shield programme of the United States Department of Economic Affairs. This means that there is an adequate level of protection for the processing of any personal data by these companies.

Embedded content

Some pages of the website use content that is hosted on other sites. This is called embedded content. Examples are: YouTube videos, Vimeo videos, podcasts via Anchor. In a similar way to the social media buttons, these services often use third party cookies. More information about what relevant parties do with the cookies and personal data is in the privacy policy of the relevant service. We have no control over this.

Disable or delete cookies

When you visit the website for the first time, a pop-up will appear in which you can indicate whether or not you accept cookies. For purely technical and functional analytical cookies, which are set in a privacy-friendly manner, we do not require permission, which is why they are enabled by default. Once you click on Accept, you give us permission to place all cookies and plug-ins as indicated in the pop-up and described in this statement.

You are free to enable the desired cookies via your browser or via the pop-up. Keep in mind that an optimal experience of the website is sometimes no longer possible. Most cookies have an expiry date. This means that they expire automatically after a certain period of time and no longer register data from your site visit. You can also choose to delete cookies manually before the expiry date. For more information about this, you can consult the manual of the browser.

Third party websites

This cookie statement does not apply to third party websites that are linked to our website. TNO cannot guarantee that these third parties will handle your personal data in a reliable or safe manner. TNO therefore advises you to read the privacy and cookie policy of these websites before using them.

Amendments

TNO reserves the right to make changes to the cookie statement. Changes will be published on the website. Therefore, please check this cookie statement regularly so that you are aware of any changes.
